Professor Ioannis Ioannou joins new DWS ESG Advisory Board

I am thrilled to share that I have joined the ESG Advisory Board of DWS Group (DWS), one of the world's leading asset managers. I am one of six highly recognised international sustainability experts from diverse disciplines who will actively advise CEO, Asoka Wöhrmann, and the Executive Board of DWS on the acceleration of its ESG strategy. DWS states that it has established the board to further develop its “holistic ESG strategy”.

I believe that the asset management industry has an absolutely critical role to play on the path towards a more sustainable, equitable and inclusive future. Therefore, I look forward to working with an esteemed group of global sustainability leaders on the ESG Advisory Board, and the entire DWS Executive Board, to enrich and advance DWS’s efforts towards taking a leading role in ESG integration. My own objective is to represent a rigorous, evidence-based and data-driven approach to addressing ESG challenges and integrating them into the core of doing business.

Biography

Professor Ioannou is a leading expert in sustainability leadership and corporate responsibility whose award-winning academic research provides valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities organizations face when developing sustainable business models. An Associate Professor at London Business School, his work focuses on strategic ESG integration and its implications for businesses and investors. He actively engages with leading companies, boards, and executives as a sought-after speaker, advisor, and author. Deeply involved with practice, he serves on advisory boards including the Sustainability Advisory Panel of Merck KGaA and the ESG Advisory Board of DWS Group. He is also a member of the World Economic Forum's Expert Network. Building on his experience advising organizations, he is interested in contributing further as a Non-Executive Director. His research is published in top journals, he is among the most cited scholars in his field, and he teaches popular courses on sustainability leadership and responsible business.
